Weddings are magical—but let’s be real, they can also get expensive fast. At Love In Focus Photo Co., we’ve been lucky to capture celebrations of all kinds across Southern Oregon, and we’ve learned that you don’t need to break the bank to have a beautiful day. If you’re dreaming up your perfect wedding on a budget, we’ve got you covered. Here are a few of our favorite cheap wedding venues Medford Oregon and in Southern Oregon that still offer amazing backdrops, great vibes, and all the charm you’re after.
1. Hanley Farm– Central Point, OR
This historic farm is a beautiful mix of rustic charm and natural beauty. You’ll find barns, heritage gardens, and wide open spaces for your ceremony and reception. Hanley Farm is managed by the Southern Oregon Historical Society, and the rental fees are surprisingly reasonable. Weddings start at only $2000.00 for a day.
Photographer tip: The old farm buildings make for stunning couple portraits. This is also a great place to have engagement photos taken!
If you’re dreaming of a lush, nature-filled ceremony, Lithia Park is a winner. Nestled in downtown Ashland, this park has streams, gardens, bridges, and trails—it’s basically a fairy tale setting for a fraction of what you’d pay at a traditional venue. You'll need to contact the Parks and Rec office, but it’s super straightforward. There are also multiple locations within the park to choose from! There are different outdoor locations that you can rent throughout the park itself and it start at only $75 for 4 hours of time!
Vibe: Think intimate wedding with a few close friends and family, followed by a cozy dinner downtown.
3. Country Willows Inn & Estate – Ashland, OR
Nestled on five acres of lush gardens, meadows, and walking trails, Country Willows Inn offers a romantic, countryside feel just minutes from downtown Ashland. Their elopement and micro-wedding packages start at $3,000.00 and include a two-night stay in a private suite or cottage, floral arrangements, a mini cake, sparkling wine, and even legal witnesses. It's an all-in-one, stress-free option for couples wanting an intimate celebration in a serene setting.
Photographer tip: The old fashioned barn and Japanese garden bridge make for dreamy, storybook portraits.
4. A Backyard or AirBnB (Seriously)
Some of the most meaningful weddings we’ve photographed have happened right at home. Whether it’s a family property, a friend's garden, or a rental Airbnb with a view—getting creative with your location can save you thousands. Add a few string lights, rent some tables, and boom: dreamy backyard wedding. You will still need to consider rental costs for everything else such as tables, chairs, decorations etc.
Pro tip: Ask us for a vendor list after booking with us to help you navigate the other parts of the wedding day.
Final Thoughts
When choosing a more affordable or DIY wedding venue, it’s important to think beyond just the price tag and consider how the space will function on your wedding day. Many budget-friendly venues don’t include essentials like tables, chairs, restrooms, lighting, or a weather backup plan—so be sure to factor in rental costs, delivery fees, and setup time when building your budget. Accessibility is another key consideration: Is there enough parking? Are paths easy for guests, vendors, and anyone with mobility needs? You’ll also want to check noise restrictions, time limits, and whether you’ll need special permits or event insurance. From a photo and video perspective, take note of natural light, open shade, and how the space looks when it’s fully styled—DIY venues often require more intentional design to truly shine. With thoughtful planning and realistic expectations, an affordable or DIY venue can be an incredible blank canvas that reflects your personality while still allowing your day to run smoothly.
No matter your budget, you deserve a wedding that reflects your love and style. Southern Oregon is full of beautiful, affordable venues—and we’re here to help you find the one that’s right for you.
